Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! My summer break was full of learning, time with family, and fun. I hope you all have enjoyed your summer, as well. While our students are enjoying the end of their vacation, we at Auburn Elementary are gearing up to provide them with a great year of learning and growing! Our office is now open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM if you have any questions or need assistance.
Students can achieve more when the school and family are working together and keeping open communication. Most of the contents in the Back-to-School edition of the Panther Bulletin are dedicated to describing the ways we can establish and maintain effective home-school communication throughout the upcoming school year.
This year, Auburn Elementary will have a more prominent presence online to keep you informed. In the weeks ahead, you can expect more activity and posting on our Facebook page. New for 2019-2020 is Auburn Elementary’s very own Twitter account - you can find us on Twitter through our handle, which is @AuburnEl. As in years past, we will continue to send out school-wide communications via email, text message, and recorded voice message. Our website will soon be going through a clean-up process to ensure all content is current and relevant.
It is difficult to establish good communication without building positive relationships. We’ve planned some upcoming opportunities for us to get to know one another. On August 14, parents of our kindergarten students are invited to attend the first 45 minutes of class with their children for Kindergarten Orientation. Once the tardy bell has rung and students are in class on the first day of school, I invite you to join me in the Amphitheater area located next to our cafeteria and office for our Parent Teacher Club-sponsored Coffee With the Principal event. Your child’s teacher will be providing an overview of this year’s instructional program during Back to School Night on August 15 from 5:30 to 6:35 PM.
It is vital that our our records include our students’ most current emergency contact information and health-related information. During this last few days of summer vacation, I ask that you take a little time to complete or update your child’s online registration, known as Data Confirmation, for the upcoming school year. Again, please contact our office if you require any assistance fulfilling this requirement. You can complete or update your child’s Data Confirmation by accessing the Aeries Parent Portal.
Thank you very much for your involvement and participation, and we look forward to working and learning together with you!
